Free blank football squares template (10×10)

This blank football squares template prints empty number headers by default. Let people claim squares, then draw digits 0–9 for each team right before kickoff. Works for Thanksgiving, the Super Bowl, or any NFL game.

How to run squares on paper

  1. Print the blank grid (empty row and column headers).
  2. Have each person write their name in an open square they want to claim.
  3. Right before kickoff, draw numbers: click Draw numbers & print here for random 0–9 digits, or pull slips from a hat and write them in the header row and column.
  4. After each quarter, write the away and home scores in the score boxes. The square that matches the last digit of each team's score wins that quarter.

FAQ

How do you draw numbers for football squares?

After every square is claimed, assign one random digit 0–9 to each row (away team) and each column (home team). Do it right before kickoff so nobody knows the layout in advance. Use our Draw numbers button or a hat with ten slips per team.

Do numbers change each quarter?

Most groups draw numbers once and keep them for the whole game. The score boxes at the bottom of the standard printout are for Q1, halftime, Q3, and final, not new digits. If your house rule is to redraw away-team row digits every quarter, use the optional print that adds four small digit rows below one normal 10×10 grid.

What does each square mean?

A square is the pair of digits where its row and column meet. If the away score ends in 7 and the home score ends in 3, the square at row 7 and column 3 wins that scoring period.
